NEST was presented as a Network Breakthrough at the 11th annual End of Year Convening, organized by Teach For All. This is a vibrant gathering of over 1,500 educators, policymakers, and advocates from across the Teach For All network that showcases groundbreaking initiatives that champion collective leadership, to ensure all children can fulfill their full potential and contribute to a brighter future for themselves and for all of us. NEST stood out as an example of powerful collaboration, bringing together public authorities, teacher unions, universities, and Teach For All network partners to drive systemic change. Thanks to NEST’s efforts, Romania’s new education law now places mentorship at its core, while in Spain, NEST has been scaled through European Social Funds, expanding mentoring support to a growing number of novice teachers.
The presentation was delivered by our NEST partners Oana Silion, Public Fund and Foundations Director at Teach For Romania, and Neli Koleva, Chief Officer of Public Partnerships at Teach For Bulgaria. They highlighted NEST’s success in developing and scaling its mentoring approach to addresses the challenges faced by novice teachers, especially in underprivileged communities.
Oana and Neli shared compelling insights into the power of cross-sector collaboration that the European Commission enables through Key Action 3 policy experimentation projects, emphasizing that NEST’s success was driven by strong partnerships between Teach For All organizations and public sector counterparts. They encouraged attendees to reflect on how similar collaborations could address challenges in their own educational systems, posing the thought-provoking question: “How could cross-sector collaboration, like the one in NEST, help address challenges in your educational system?”
